On November 22, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) announced that, in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations of China and the protocol between China and Uzbekistan on the phytosanitary requirements for the export of Uzbek lemons to China, as of the date of this announcement, Uzbekistan lemons meeting relevant requirements are allowed to be imported.
It is suggested that the quarantine pests concerned by China include Ceroplastes rusci, Ectomyelois ceratoniae, Neoaliturus tenellus, Xanthomonas citri and Pseudomonas syringae pv. Syringae.
At present, Uzbekistan's exports to China include cherry, melon and pomegranate, as well as other 11 vegetables and agricultural products. Uzbekistan has said that it will take China as a priority export object of fruits and vegetables. By March 2021, Ukraine has about 500 companies engaged in exporting to China. At present, the two countries are negotiating the access of grapes, plums, peaches and persimmons.
